Tennis Help

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

I was sitting down about a month ago, and wondered why I never really gave tennis lessons. I have given a few here and there, and I’ve been told I help, so I think I am going to give it a shot, and officially give lessons. I think I finally trust that might have an eye for good tennis.

Anyone that knows me, I’m not giving dinky ‘for fun’ lessons either, I want to help people that have a passion for the game and hard work. I want to help players become the best they can be, and once you’re the best in town, I want to help you become the best in the state.

So, I am going to start of charging $20 an hour, I think that’s fair. So, I just wanted to get that out there…

Vent

Sunday, June 8th, 2008

I need to fu&king vent at life right now.

WTF, old man, don’t run straight into me, now my bike’s all ehf’d up, along with my leg! Apology not accepted, freaking old man!

Pete’s place doesn’t open until eleven on Sundays, and all I wanted to do was watch Federer win his first match on dirt. I thought it might be on ESPN360, but WTF, no way? How could you not air this match on ESPN360, when you stick the Lakers on there every freaking night!? Uhhhgg.

Now I’m going to have to watch it later, and why is Firefox 3 on my f*&king OS (Ubuntu) if it crashes all the time! Get your shit straight Canonical.

It’s Definitly an Injury

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

It can’t be something I’m doing wrong, at least, I still don’t think so. I tried modifying lots of things to try and figure out what is wrong with my arm. So, I think I am going to be taking some more time off to let it heal. I think I may know what I did to injure it, but I don’t think it is still re-injuring my arm, maybe irritating the area.

I’m not looking forward to it, I don’t even know how long I should take off. I figured I’d start off with a week, so next Thursday.

I was playing with Jason the other day, and I couldn’t even… it was just bad! And the thought of me not playing again by injuring myself permanantly caught my breath, so I think I need to take this a little more seriously. Before I was just thinking it was just a strain or ‘ouchie’, but I think it may be something more serious that needs more time.

Jason Castro

Home Country: Texas, USA
Backhand:
One Handed Backhand
Favorite Surface:
Hard
Handed: Right

This is my best friend, Jason. We met on the tennis court over four years ago, and pretty often we meet on the tennis court just about everyday. And then, after, we go enjoy a nice beer and Ramen Noodles with hot sauce.

Jason’s game has evolved right along side mine, in fact, we’ve both made huge jumps in our game at about the same time.

Jason has a pretty slick game, even if he’s jumping all over the place. He pounds every ball, full force: Never hand Jason a floater!

Jason, unlike other’s I practice with, shares the same “Fuck It!”, “No Excuses” policy I do. We don’t cry, complain, or justify playing badly or loosing. We’re all about getting the job done, and working hard, no matter what. And I think it’s nice to have someone around on the court, that thinks like me. We’re always giving each other shit on the court, because it drives us, it would make you think we think nothing alike! Haha.

Jason’s also one of those guys that does things on his own. We all help each other out here and there, but Jason often wants to figure things out on his own, and he sticks to his guns. Even though that annoys me about him sometimes, it’s also one of the most respectable qualities he has.

My Freaking Arm!

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

Aubrey about to Return!

Yup, it’s still bugging me. I went to practice early today with Juan, and of course, started hitting hard like I usually do. But, because of my arm, the practice was going downhill, like the previous few.

So, Juan mentioned that maybe we should hit 50%, like hitting on the wall, and I thought it would be a good idea. So while hitting, I was thinking about when my arm started hurting, and what I changed. I remember I had improved my slices, so I stopped hitting any, and attempted to get back to hitting over the ball well.

I found out the I had been preparing my swing way to high, almost shoulder level. And, although, I often do this on down the line shots or chasers, it’s not good to do all the time. Maybe it’s been stressing my arm? Well, after I got my top-spin backhand going well, I started slicing again, and noticed, immediatly, I started preparing high again. My body seems to be assimilating the high preparation when I incorperate a few slices.

Then, I stopped. I needed to think about it, and come back tommorrow and see if anything improves with the knowledge, especially the pain in my arm tonight.

I hope this leads to some improvement, I really miss my backhand, and the pain is just annoying. But, it’s a little less tight right now, so maybe that’s good news?
